FAQs

Q.How does the “Play a Coke” app work?

Q.Do I have to point my phone at the bottle the entire time in order to listen to the playlist?

A.No, once you have unlocked a playlist, it is saved in the app and can be controlled on your smartphone.

Q.I’m having issues with the Spotify app. Who can I contact?

A.Go to support.spotify.com to troubleshoot any issues with Spotify.

Q.My app doesn’t work/bottle isn’t scanning

A.Make sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of the “Play a Coke” app from the App Store or Google Play. Sometimes it’s simply that the app needs to be restarted. In these cases, exit out of the app and restart it.

If you’re having trouble scanning, it might be that you are not in ideal scanning conditions to use the app. Make sure to avoid glare on the label, avoid low light, keep the label in focus, and then give the playlist a few seconds to load.

Q.Turning the bottle to toggle between songs is not working. What do I do?

A.This is a feature only for 500mL bottles and Fountain Cups. If you are trying with a 500mL bottle or fountain cup and it still isn’t working, you might not be in ideal scanning conditions to use the app. Make sure that you avoid glare on the label, avoid low light, keep the label in focus, and wait a few seconds for it to load. If it still doesn’t work, you can toggle between songs on the app.

Q.Why won’t the entire song play in the “Play a Coke” app?

A.“Play a Coke” playlists are designed to play a 30-second clip of each song. To hear the full version of a song from any of our playlists you can play it on the Spotify app by tapping “Listen on Spotify”.

Q.I pressed Play but I cannot hear any music. What is the problem?

A.On some smart phones, the playlists might not play if your Ring/Silent mode is switched to “Silent”. Please make sure that your Ring/Silent mode is switched to “Ring” when you play a playlist.

Q.I scanned my bottle and the Home is Canada playlist started playing (even though that’s not what I scanned).

A.That’s just the default playlist when one is not scanned properly — you may want to try again in better lighting.

Q.How did you choose the “moments” that are featured on Coca-Cola packaging?

A.Just like an ice cold Coca-Cola, the songs perfectly complement our favourite summer activities, from swimming at the beach to spending time with family friends, to heating up a summer romance. Some playlist themes are universal while others were curated specifically for Canadians, such as a playlist to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

Q.How did you choose the artists/songs featured on the playlists?

A.For each moment, we thought of the general theme for that playlist and a collection of songs and artists that would go best with that theme. We then narrowed down each playlist to 20 tracks. In general, we focused on developing a set of playlists that span a broad spectrum of musical genres and artists, and create a feeling of positivity and optimism.

Q.Where can I find a list of all the “moments”/playlists available?

A.Download the “Play a Coke” app to view the moments and playlists that have been unlocked or have yet to be unlocked. There are 189 to discover!

Q.Are there French playlists?

A.Yes! There are 61 French playlists available on fountain cups across Canada and on bottles in Quebec.

Q.How many songs are on each playlist?
